Review:
The show:
The Piece of Me show is based on Britney’s Vegas residency show of the same name, so I knew it would probably be well-produced and slick and packed with hits, and it didn’t disappoint. It also featured some great surprises like the mini-tribute to Missy Elliott in the middle, Britney leading and whipping Rylan across the stage during Freakshow and a slowed-down jungle-themed introduction to Toxic, as well as Halloween-themed darker renditions of Baby One More Time and Oops! I Did it Again.
This performance:
Pitbull was a great support act – I was a bit gutted to miss Feel This Moment (too busy queuing to get in and then buying merch) but I really enjoyed his set, especially Timber.
There were more seats than normal for an O2 music gig but this actually worked well as the seats closer to the floor were pretty raked and I reckon most people probably got a good view. I don’t think Britney sang live at all (and she barely spoke to the audience), but I can’t remember the last time I had this much fun at a concert … she has literally about 35 massive hits and most of them were in this set, ending with ‘Til The World Ends as an encore. The dancing and general performances were great and the fact that the audience were so into it made it even better. I would see this show again next week if I could.
