New London Theatre, London

When I went: 6 February 2017

Shows seen there: School of Rock

Size: Fairly big

Typical price: Expensive – top tickets at £95

Special points: Modern design

Where to eat beforehand: Barrafina

Comments:

The New London Theatre is unusual in that everything apart from the box office is accessed by taking escalators up from the ground floor, and the theatre itself manages to combine raked seating and ample legroom.

It opened in the 1970s which accounts for the more-modern-than-usual design and sensible proportions; since then it has hosted a mix of plays and musicals, including War Horse and Show Boat. It also doesn’t suffer from the usual problem of lack of ladies’ toilets.
