Size: Fairly small

Typical price: Expensive (up to £90 sometimes for stalls tickets)

Special points: Tight-packed seats, some of the best new shows, proximity to Charing Cross for transport

Where to eat beforehand: BalthazarIvy Market Grill

Comments:

The Savoy is in a great location for shops and restaurants, even if the theatre can feel very tightly packed and the seats a bit snug.

It tends to get the first runs of new shows (which don’t tend to be world premieres but are often long-running shows from Broadway, or revivals of London productions), often starring big names, and the average age of the audience is normally fairly mature.
