When I went: 25 January 2016, 17 May 2017, 9 April 2018
Shows seen there: Bend it like Beckham, The Girls, Chicago
Size: Medium
Typical price: Fairly reasonable (around £65 for good stalls seats)
Special points: Informal atmosphere
Where to eat beforehand: Polpo, Cantina Laredo
Comments:
The Phoenix doesn’t have as glitzy a reputation as some of the other London theatres, but has hosted long-running productions such as Blood Brothers as well as Shakespeare plays, Once, and Guys and Dolls when it transferred from the Savoy.
It can feel quite small inside when it is full, as the stalls seats are very close to each other, but the stalls are split into two columns so if you can sit at one of the four points at the end of one of the columns you can get in and out easily.
