Royal Opera House, London

MUSIC OWL AWARD2nd – venue

When I went: 11 January 2016, 4 January 2017

Shows seen there: ToscaThe Nutcracker

Size: Huge

Typical price: Very expensive (around £215 for dress circle seats)

Special points: Grandeur

Where to eat beforehand: BalthazarIvy Market Grill

Comments:

The Royal Opera House hosts ballets as well as operas, and the BAFTAs and Olivier awards. This all adds to its ‘glitzy’ reputation, which is matched by the very steep price tag on tickets. However, going there is worth it if you can afford it – the food and drinks are great, the seats are lovely (there is not much legroom in the stalls, but they are otherwise comfortable) and the productions of a high quality.
