When I went: 5 December 2013
Location: The O2, London
Performers: will.i.am (featuring Leah McFall and Cheryl)
Creative team: will.i.am’s team
Approximate price: £50
Special points: Effects
Best bit: Scream and Shout
If I could change one thing: More coherent set
Review:
will.i.am seemed genuinely grateful to have reached the stage of performing in the O2, and threw all his abilities as a producer, DJ and collaborator at the set, roping in his protégée Leah McFall (from the BBC’s The Voice) on Bang Bang and, as a surprise, Cheryl on Heartbreaker. There was a huge projection of Miley Cyrus on Feelin’ Myself and various impressive effects throughout the set, and will.i.am performed some Black Eyed Peas numbers as well as his solo songs. While the show lacked some of the finesse and raw vocal power of those of Pink and Muse, it was still an enjoyable and entertaining experience.
