Review:
The play:
This play is a little opaque if you are not that into plays in general, but it really allows strong actors to shine given how few parts there are and it draws you in so that you are really invested in the characters by the denouement.
This performance:
I went to see this play back in 2008, when Kevin Spacey was the Old Vic’s artistic theatre director. It was well-performed and directed throughout, but reached a fantastic peak with the denouement, when Kevin Spacey and Jeff Goldblum as the leads (Charlie Fox and Bobby Gould respectively) yelling their heads off. Laura Michelle Kelly as Karen was also impressive, and I figured out watching her that I knew her from her role as Lucy Barker in the film Sweeney Todd (“Mischief, mischief!”).
